The chair of Visual Computing, headed by Prof. Oliver Staadt, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tatiana Landesberger is heading the chair Visual Analytics since October 2020. The chair of Computer Graphics was headed by Prof. Heidrun Schumann (until March 2020), are part of the Institute of Computer Science. At the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research, an additional associated chair of Multimedia Communication is led by Prof. Bodo Urban. Visiting professor Prof. Paul Rosenthal works on human-centered data analytics.

Oliver Staadt is a full professor of computer science and dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Rostock. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tatiana Landesberger von Antburg
Tatiana von Landesberger has been head of the Chair of Visual Analytics since October 2020. Her research is in the areas of information visualization and visual analytics. The focus is on the visual analysis of networks and spatio-temporal data. The fields of application include medicine as well as biology and finance.

Associated Chair of Multimedia Communication (Emeritus)

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bodo Urban
Bodo Urban was involved in the establishment of the Rostock office of the Fraunhofer IGD, where he also became head of department in 1992. In 1998 he was appointed as professor of Multimedia Communication at the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Rostock. Since 2008 Bodo Urban is Head of the Competence Center for Interactive Document Engineering at Fraunhofer IGD. There he works in the area of visualizing existantial data primarily for the mechanical engineering and construction sector, but also for healtcare.

Chair of Computer Graphics (Emerita)

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Heidrun Schumann
Heidrun Schumann was heading the chair of Computer Graphics since 1992 until march 2020. Her research interests were in the areas of information visualization and Visual Analytics, particularly including the visualization of structures and multivariate data in space and time. Last research projects were focused on investigating scalable visualization methods, on designing visual interfaces for smart environments, and also on developing application-specific solutions for the visualization of terrains or biomedical data.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Paul Rosenthal
Paul Rosenthal is a visiting professor at the University of Rostock. His research concentrates on reliability and reproducibility in visualization and on user-friendly human-machine interfaces.
